“Thumri Festival” – A festival of light classical music showcasing the outstanding young talent along with the maestros. The Festival is being organised by Sahitya Kala Parishad, Department of Art, Culture and Languages, Government of Delhi, celebrating the colours of music and culture of the East. A three day musical engagement that will keep you affixed for the mesmerising Thumri performances of the legendary classical vocals.
Arati Ankalikar – Indian classical singer and has received training in Agra as well as Gwalior and Jaipur-Atrauli gharanas. Arati’s performances are marked by her command over both rhythm and melody.
Indrani Mukherjee – Hindustani Classical Music vocalist from the Kirana Gharana. She was a student of the renowned maestro of Hindustani Classical
Music late Pandit A. Kanan at ITC Sangeet Research Academy Kolkata. Indrani has performed at several concerts in cities across the US and India.
Pt. Chhannulal Mishra – Hindustani classical singer from Banaras, a noted exponent of the Kirana gharana of the Hindustani classical music and especially the Khayal and the ‘Purab Ang’ – Thumri.
Kalpana Zokarkar – Classical vocalist from Indore. She has an equal command over the classical and the light classical styles of music.
Ramakant Gaikwad – Hindu Classical Vocalist who hails from Pune. His guru is none other than his own father Suryakant Gaikwad.
Malini Awasthi – Indian folk singer. She sings in Hindi language dialects like Awadhi, Bundelkhandi and Bhojpuri. She also presents in Thumri and Kajri. The Government of India awarded her the civilian honour of the Padma Shri in 2016.
Pooja Goswami – is a Minneapolis, MN based performer, composer, teacher and scholar of Hindustani (North Indian classical) music. She was born in a musical family and received her early training in Hindustani classical vocal music from her father Sri. Surendra Goswami.
Meeta Pandit – Hindustani Classical vocalist belonging to the Gwalior Gharana. She is the granddaughter and disciple of Padma Bhushan Pt.
Girja Devi – Indian classical singer of the Seniya and Banaras gharanas. She performs classical and light classical music and has helped elevate the profile of thumri.
