Ladies Only : Representation of Women in Modern Indian Art

Description- This walk introduces you to the sensual, exotic, depraved and divine representation of women and their bodies through the visual art form, from pre-independence to today.It is a carefully curated walk that will take you through paintings and sculptures representing women, as well as artworks by women artists. The walk focuses on how ideas of desirable and undesirable femininity are communicated – and how dissent is played out – through art.This is a two hour walk open to men and women above 18 years of age.Starting Point: Gate no 3 (near the High Court), National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA)This is a private walk conducted by Flow India. It does not cover ALL the artworks in the National Gallery of Modern Art. It is a carefully curated walk that takes the participants through select artworks.The walk is conducted by Habiba Insaf. Habiba holds a Masters in Arts and Aesthetics from JNU,New Delhi. Presently, she heads pedagogy and learning at Flow India.
