About the exhibition: Behind the colors and patterns of Latin American and Caribbean textiles, lies the history of a whole region. The textiles featured in the exhibition give a peek into a kaleidoscope of colors and traditions. They capture a rich heritage shaped by multiple influences: pre-Columbian, Colonial, and Modern, Indigenous, European, African and Asian, including Indian techniques and materials. The textiles shown in the exhibition are the result, not only of local knowledge and inherited practices of many generations, but also of the creativity and artistry of men and women of Latin America and the Caribbean.
