British Council presents: FAR, Company Wayne McGregor – Delhi
November 30 @ 7:00 pm - December 14 @ 10:00 pm
Description- Wayne McGregors anatomy-defying choreography and ground-breaking approach across dance, science, film, music, visual art and technology has fueled a string of truly unique works. FAR is no exception. Inspired by the controversial Age of Enlightenment, FAR mines an era that first placed a body in question. Ten incredible dancers confront the distortions, sensuality and feeling of the 18th Centurys searing contemporary sensibility to a haunting score by the critically acclaimed composer Ben Frost. Staged in a mesmerizing environment of shadow and light (Random International, Lucy Carter), FAR binds cutting edge design with choreography made from a radical cognitive research process. “The style is clearly McGregor’s own – the rippling backs, the tendril arms, the probing hyperextensions – but this is McGregor in evolution a blazing, mysterious post-classicism.” – Observer, UK A prolific dance maker, and the first Resident Choreographer of The Royal Ballet to come from contemporary dance, Wayne McGregor has delivered world premieres for international companies including Paris Opera Ballet, New York City Ballet, Stuttgart Ballet and Australian Ballet, and choreographed movies (Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) and music videos (Radioheads Lotus Flower). In January 2011, McGregor was awarded a CBE in the New Year Honours List. FAR takes place as part of UK/India 2017, a year-long celebration of the long-standing relationship between India and the UK, which will see a vast programme of cultural exchange and activity take place in cities across both countries.
